Goal Kicks (Possession)

• CB + CM deep with GK for build out
• ST will frequently the open player. Needs to start to high and find space to breakout from press.

Defensive Transition

• “Where’s the danger?”, “Ball, Player, Space.”
• Communicate to help teammates understand dangerous situations.
• Need to be aware of the numerical advantage opponent may have on transition.
• Closest player to the ball with immediate press.
• Sprint to cover middle.

Kill the Play!

• If there is a contested ball with pressure on the player’s back in defensive half, use the goal keeper a support pass get wide.
• Look to “Kill the Play” by retaining possession.
• We do not win the ball if we just whack it away from the opponent into contested space.
